The Call You're Not Ready For: What Happens When Mom or Dad Suddenly Needs Help and Nobody Has a Plan

Kate Brooks of Oasis Senior Advisors will be presenting on the following as described by her:
The Call Youre Not Ready For: What Happens When Mom or Dad Suddenly Needs Helpand Nobody Has a Plan
The premise is pretty simple: most of us know, intellectually, that our parents are getting older. We know we should have certain conversations and plans in place. But then its 2:17 on a Tuesday afternoon, the phone rings, Mom is in the hospital, and someone tells you shes going to be okaybut she cant safely go home.
Now what?
I'm going to take the group through what happens next: the assumptions families make about Medicare, home care, senior living, finances and aging in place; the questions nobody thinks to ask until they're suddenly urgent; and why Mom and Dad are fine can sometimes mean there is an entire invisible support system quietly keeping everything together.
I'll also share a very personal piece of my own familys experience with my grandmother. Despite the work I do today, my family learned many of these lessons the hard way. I think that story will help make this much more than an educational presentationit makes the subject real.
And because this is a room full of attorneys, financial advisors, CPAs, trust professionals and other people who spend their careers solving complicated problems for clients, I'm not going to let everyone just sit back and listen. There will be an interactive component where attendees get to work through a realistic family situation themselves and see just how quickly a seemingly straightforward problem becomes much more complicated once healthcare, finances, family dynamics, safety and an extremely short timeline collide.
My goal is for everyone to leave with two things: a much better understanding of what families actually encounter when an aging crisis happens, and five conversations they should have with their own parents before they ever get that phone call.
